Join us in the Kennedy Community Garden as we demonstrate specific tricks of the trade and identify the good and bad guys in your garden. There's no need to pick up that spray bottle. Come with questions and ready to i.d. some pests and disease.

    Oregon Tilth Accredited Organic Land Care, a program dedicated to training and accrediting sustainable landscape practices, is pleased to announce:

    Transitioning to Organics: a workshop for landscape professionals focusing on Willamette University’s five-year plus organic landscape management. Workshop topics include soil biology and chemistry, plant selection, water conservation, compost tea and organic weed management. This class will involve both classroom instruction and field study. 

    Participants in the training will receive a copy of the Oregon Tilth Organic Land Care Policies and Standards. Lunch included. Continued education hours are available.

Explore season extension techniques, from cloches to cold frames, enabling you to extend the garden season beyond the fall and into next spring. With a little planning and some simple techniques, learn just how easy “off-season” gardening can be.

    Thurston County, in cooperation with Oregon
    Tilth is offering a five-day training for landscape
    professionals focusing on organic practices
    including soil biology, Integrated Pest
    Management, organic weed management,
    marketing organic land care, stormwater
    management, toxics and pollution reduction,
    tree care and more.

    Participants who complete the training, pass an
    examination, and agree to program policies will
    be eligible for Oregon Tilth Organic Land Care
    Accreditation.

    Cost: $550 (Early registration discount: $495, before October 1st.)

    Participants in the training are eligible for accreditation with an additional $100 examination fee.
